Dotting back to May of this year, developer Behaviour Interactive announced that the team will be introducing two new major additions to its evergrowing Dead by Daylight. This happens to unveil that cross-platform play will be hitting the 2016 title sometime in the coming future alongside a much needed graphical overhaul for the game.

And while the Canadian studio has bridged platforms with cross-play last month, linking Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and PC, the latter announcement is still underway for Dead by Daylight. But in a new blog post, the team distributes the titling for the coming initiative for the online-focused title. Dubbed ‘The Realm Beyond’, the team spares the update will come in segments over time.

In addition to the new graphics that will drip into Dead by Daylight as time progresses, Behaviour Interactive also discloses that the next-generation systems can expect to receive the game as well from now until next fall.

Between now and Fall 2021, we will be introducing a series of free updates to our visuals, graphics, lighting, animations, and more for players on PC, Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Stadia while also building up to a Dead by Daylight experience for the next generation of consoles.

This project also includes the ongoing support of Cross-Play and Cross-Friends, released earlier this Summer, and future quality of life improvement to help expand and unify the Entity’s Realm.

The team also spared that the appearance of Dead by Daylight will be the only changes coming to the game. The studio informed that more interactive scenarios and elements will be added to maps across the title’s library as well to reinvigorate some of its most iconic settings. As to what the first of many updates will include, Behaviour Interactive tells Springwood and Wamaoka Estate will be the guinea pigs for the first phase.

“We gave a lot of attention to the lighting to make the experience of roaming these maps more realistic and engrossing. Individual rooms will now be more distinct, with each serving a specific function,” shares Lead Level Artist Stephanie Hellin. “On top of that, the team has also made some significant changes to both the visuals and interaction animations of Generators and Chests.”
