While fans grew excited as they inched closer towards the release for Kerbal Space Program 2, which was scheduled to take place in spring 2020, developer Squad was hit hard by the COVID-19 epidemic in the sense of working from home and asked for fans to be patient a little longer. The announcement resulted with the long-awaited sequel to be arriving the following year in 2021 as more time is necessary o reach the vision the team has for the title.
However, even the later release date for Kerbal Space Program 2 might still be too ambitious for Mexican game studio. That is according to the recent financial report submitted by Take-Two Interactive – the parent company for publisher Private Division. In that, it is listed that Kerbal Space Program 2 is now arriving in 2023.
Most interesting about Kerbal Space Program 2 currently is the listed platforms. While the game was announced back in 2019, it should be noted that there is currently no word of the game arriving for next-generation consoles. Even after the game was pushed to fall next year, Squad nor Private Division pressed on the game hitting the newest hardware from Microsoft & Sony.
But looking ahead now that the game is set to ship possibly three years after the new consoles settle, then it is likely fans will hear of the title’s addition to the newer consoles altogether. That would mean Kerbal Space Program 2 would then only be unique to Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 for consoles as it drops the current-generation platforms.
Are you fine waiting until 2023 for Kerbal Space Program 2?
Kerbal Space Program 2 is listed for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC to arrive sometime in 2023.
