For those that might recall from earlier this year, Xbox company Microsoft announced to be boosting up the price for Xbox Live Gold. The online subscription would face a mirroring double in price to the regular $60 a year price tag. However, Microsoft following extensive backlash and criticism backpedaled the decision. Even more, the firm shared that it will also be kick starting work to make free games officially free-to-play – not requiring to use the service.

In the time leading up to the support debuting on Xbox consoles, Microsoft also included that Xbox Party Chat & Looking 4 Groups will also be included in extension to the new initiative. For more than a decade, many of these tools were hidden behind a paywall that is Xbox Live, but with free-to-play on the rise, it was in due time until Microsoft followed in the footsteps of competitors.

Now on Wednesday, Microsoft announces that the free-to-play program is going live. With that, there are more than 50 titles that now support in line with the new feature. You can read the full list below:

“As part of listening to your feedback, this change will take place starting today, and all Xbox players will be able to access online multiplayer at no charge for a library of over 50 free-to-play games that support online multiplayer,” Microsoft writes. The Xbox company also leaves in an editor’s note that Battle Ages, Battle Islands, and Gems of War were removed for not supporting online multiplayer in a later discovery.

Elsewhere in regards to Xbox Live and its future for the platform, Microsoft confirmed that ‘Xbox Network’ will be the proprietary implementation for all Xbox connectivity between all platforms. However, the firm goes on to clarify that Xbox Live Gold and its attributes will not be disappearing following the decision. You can read the full report by heading here.
