To advance beyond the PlayStation 4 & PC platforms that Square Enix catered to for more than half a decade now in regards to Final Fantasy XIV, the firm could only go forward with the inevitable PlayStation 5 version to follow suit soon enough. As part of the initial announcement for the newest expansion, Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, Square Enix pressed on the development for the platform.

While a release date could not be approximately spared, the publisher did tell that it is planned to arrive in 2021 for certain. But, at the time it was presumed to release simultaneously with the coming add-on. However, the open beta that took place in April suggested perhaps it would come soon than anticipated: especially if save data can be transferred, the firm shared.

In a new announcement on Twitter, Square Enix presses that Final Fantasy XIV for PlayStation 5 is to launch next week officially.

On the same date, Final Fantasy XIV Patch 5.55 is to also initiate which offers – Part 2 of Death Unto Dawn, Save the Queen questline update, YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse epilogue quest, and a reward for collecting all Triple Triad cards in-game. Unfortunately, there is still no sign for an Xbox version even after clarity on the matter was provided by Square Enix in a previous statement.

This past week, Square Enix also issued the official release date for Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker. In that, the DLC is said to arrive in mid November right ahead of Thanksgiving. You can read the full report by heading here.
