While the rumors continued to stack on top of the previously held EA Play Live last month in July, Electronic Arts & EA Motive officially unveiled the long-proclaimed Dead Space Remake. Although not revealing much outside of the game’s title with a brief cinematic teaser, no true gameplay for the game was presented at the time. It is difficult to determine if the trailer was in engine or not as well.

Regardless, following the announcement IGN spoke with Creative Director Roman Campos-Oriola who shared that the coming announcement is to feature a lot of familiarity of the original release from now-closed Visceral Games. But, the integrity for majority of this new experience is said to be rebuilt with better characters, plot, and appearance – obviously.

During the recent Electronic Arts Q1 2022 earnings report, President & CEO Andrew Wilson has elaborated on the expectancy for Dead Space. While an official date is not shared, he tells the game is “still a little ways out”.

Having just provided a very small trailer on Dead Space, there’s — or a sweet preview on Dead Space, there’s no lot more I can share about that. It’s a little ways out yet, but the studio has taken it on. What I can say is it’s one of the great games from our catalog. There has been extraordinary demand to bring it back for existing players and next generation of players, and we’re excited to kind of add that to the portfolio over time.

And we’ll be able to share more as development continues. But I would just — I would close on that point by saying it was one of the most demanded titles for us, maybe just after Skate, which we’ve also announced we’re bringing back, and the response was very positive to the announcement that we’re back in development.

Wilson continues by elaborating on the amount of demand for Dead Space from its user base. While remaining content on the excitement that a beloved IP is back in the EA pipeline once more, he tells that outcry for a new Dead Space game just outpaces Skate which is also another returning franchise underway at Electronic Arts.

Despite the game not being at EA Play Live last month, developer Full Circle did share that the series is being teased that same week. With a new trailer of reactions to the gameplay, and not presenting any, the team asks for its fans to be patient as it gets the experience just right for the upcoming return.
