Future Games Show To Be Held For Gamescom 2021 On August 26th

As annual events go, the most notable are still taking place, but through digital means until deemed safe for public attendance to resume. For August, that means the yearly Gamescom once held in Cologne, Germany will instead  take place online for 2021. So far, the event is told to be taking place later this month officially with Geoff Keighley’s Gamescom Opening Night Live to return for its second year in a row.

In preparation for the event next month, organizer Game unveiled the full lineup of attending developers for this year’s Gamescom. The list includes Xbox, Ubisoft, Sega, and Activision to name a few. Additionally, a recent announcement from Future reveals that another Future Games Show is to take place during Gamescom later this month as well.

One already took place this past June for the annual E3 show returning for 2021. But the approaching presentation held by Gamesradar+ reveals that both Resident Evil 8 lead voice actors Maggie Robertson and Aaron LaPlante, Lady Dimitrescu and The Duke respectively, will be hosting the showcase.

“I’m delighted to be presenting the Future Games Show on August 26th with my Resident Evil Village co-star Aaron LaPlante! There are some incredible games featured in the show and I can’t wait to show you all what’s in store for this year and beyond,” Robertson commented on hosting the show.

LaPlante adds, “As we start to move into the ‘new normal’ it’s incredible to think all the games you’re playing now were developed, at least in part, in people’s bedrooms, kitchens, and home offices. On August 26 myself and Maggie will be showing you what’s still to come in 2021 and what to expect in 2022 and beyond. They haven’t told me much, but from what I’ve seen so far there’s something that will interest all of you.”

Previously, Microsoft announced that it will also be hosting its own livestream during Gamescom as well. In addition to a date settled for August 24, the show is to feature updates on anticipated releases from Microsoft’s first-party pipeline. You can read the full report by heading here.
