Electronic Arts Confirms 2022’s EA Play Live Show Is Cancelled, But Announcements Will Still Come This Year

Come this June will be the annual fun fair of major publishers and franchises with the “E3 month” delivering new content in terms of announcements & release dates for upcoming titles. However, 2022 is left in obscurity as to what will happen with the titular E3 as organizers Electronic Software Association already pulled admission for an in-person show this year.

While discussion for an online show is still said to take place this June, Electronic Arts is apparently pulling its own show as well. Yes, EA Play Live will not be held this summer. When speaking to IGN, the firm explained that announcements are to release respectively, but not compiled under one major show this year.

“We love EA Play Live as it’s our way of connecting with our players and sharing what’s new with all of you. However, this year things aren’t lining up to show you everything on one date. We have exciting things happening at our world-class studios and this year we’ll reveal much more about these projects when the time is right for each of them. We look forward to spending time with you throughout the year!” the statement from an Electronic Arts spokesperson reads.

Understanding Electronic Arts lineup this year will be enticing to say the least. For one, Respawn Entertainment is expected to ship the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Additionally, the firm is also said to be involved on two other Star Wars games alongside the confirmation on the upcoming follow-up in a previous press release.

As for EA Sports, annual entries like Madden NFL & NHL is on the way. But, FIFA is expected to come in a new coat of paint as it was reported the firm is dropping its iconic name.
