It looks like we got some good news and bad news today, as action RPG Steel Rising was delayed a few months. Developer Spiders made the announcement earlier this morning on Twitter, but with it came a new gameplay trailer for us to enjoy.
Steel Rising has a lot of people excited (myself included) after Spiders released Greedfall. Steel Rising follows some of the same concepts of combining two genres that are generally not seen together. While Greedfall saw magic and monsters in colonial times, Steel Rising gives us robots in France.. It takes place in Paris during the French Revolution where we play as Aegis, Marie Antoinette’s robot body guard.

The gameplay trailer (by way of Game Informer) is narrated by the game’s developers and provides an in-depth look ahead of the game’s launch. Our armor acts as an extension of our robot body. Different paths will be available depending on what armor we choose. Steel fans for arms may let us cut right through enemies, while a grapple hook can let us avoid a fight entirely. There will be plenty of armor for us to sift through, along with Spiders’ bread and butter of a highly detailed combat system. We will also be able to explore Paris and its surroundings at our leisure. Should a boss fight have you out-leveled, we can choose to explore and return when Aegis has leveled up.
Steel Rising will now release on June 8 on Series S/X and PS5 along with PC
