Borderlands Movie In Post-Production, Gearbox Working On New Brothers In Arms & Duke Nukem Projects

In the lineage of content underway from Gearbox, the firm just this spring shipped Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands on most major platforms, but that is only the tip of the iceberg. Of course, the firm via Gearbox Publishing is planning to release new titles from third-party developers. However, what about the other productions underway at the developer?

Well, at PAX East 2022 this past April, the firm announced a new Tales from the Borderlands is underway. Noted, President Randy Pitchford confirmed that this will be an in-house project and will not be involving Telltale Games this time around which is a surprise to say the least. Ultimately, this will branch the Borderlands universe further and expand upon the original game.

Elsewhere during the presentation, Pitchford explained that the team is also occupied with other Gearbox-owned IPs as well which remained dormant for well over a decade. “Gearbox has some other exciting properties like Homeworld, and Brothers in Arms, and Duke Nukem, and we have development action with all of these properties and we’ll be announcing some things. Some announcements, very big and exciting announcements, will be coming sooner than later.”

Prior to the statement, Pitchford did press on new details for the Borderlands movie on the way. In that, he pressed on his excitement for the upcoming production by listing the involved actors and even confirmed that the new movie directed by Eli Roth (Hostel) is already in post-production over at Lionsgate Films.

“Some of you may have heard one of our projects – the Borderlands movie. Of course, some of you may know we partnered with Lionsgate: awesome awesome company- studio that makes brilliant stuff […] The Hunger Game movies, Twilight. Some recent cool stuff like Knives Out. […] They’re a great partner. […] We’re in post-production right now and its going well and Lionsgate will tell you when the movie’s ready.
