Like many things, the Fortnite updates always shakes the industry upon release. While the game remains as popular as ever, the battle royale continues to introduce new things to the title. Lets not forget when the biggest thing happened to its core gameplay – no building. All jokes aside, it always is refreshing to see what Epic Games continues to inject into the game as time goes on.

One hinted aspect is more crossover skins. In a previous statement from XboxEra admin Nick Baker, it is indicated that Microsoft has been talking closely with Epic Games and Doom Slayer is a new addition on the horizon. Additionally, Epic for roughly two years has said Unreal Engine 5 is on the horizon for Fortnite, but no sign on the transition was officially shown.

For both of those, they come in the new Chapter 4, Season 1 update in Fortnite. You can watch the new cinematic trailer in the video below:

With the iconic space marine from id Software’s Doom franchise, Epic Games does not stop there. In that, CD Projekt Red’s Geralt of Rivia, the protagonist from The Witcher series, also makes an appearance as well. On the matter of Unreal Engine 5, Xbox Series & PlayStation 5 consoles alongside cloud platforms can now bask in the new engine.

“Unreal Engine 5 ushers in a generational leap in visual fidelity, bringing an unprecedented level of detail to game worlds like the Battle Royale Island. Next-gen Unreal Engine 5 features such as Nanite, Lumen, Virtual Shadow Maps, and Temporal Super Resolution are now available in Fortnite Battle Royale,” an overview for Unreal Engine 5.
