For Sony Pictures’ PlayStation Productions, the video game adaptation division is turning on all burners coming this summer. Already, it was revealed with a teaser trailer that Twisted Metal starring Anthony Mackie, Neve Campbell, Will Arnett is to air on Peacock later this July. Additionally, a separate trailer for Gran Turismo with David Harbour leading is to hit the silver screen come August the following month.

Of course, the firm is still eager to attach more to PlayStation Productions as it plans to give the same attention it did for The Last of Us & Uncharted that it will to the new Horizon Zero Dawn & God of War TV series. Noted, the recent acquisition for Bungie also solidified aggressive planning to bring transmedia attention to Destiny as well, it was revealed last year.

According to a new LinkedIn post from Gabriel Vanhuss, he is joining Bungie as the new head of linear media pertaining to the Destiny IP. Vanhuss is most noted for his work previously at MotorTrend Group as a vice president of development & programming as well as a executive producer under Warner Bros. Discovery. For namesake, the profile lists the recent revival of Mythbusters as one example.

‘I recently took the gig as Head of Linear Media for the Destiny franchise at Bungie. This new position will work with the Destiny Universe Leadership team to create strategy and execute the operations for expansion of Destiny into new media, including TV, films, books, comics, and audio formats.”

The post continues: ”Destiny has a universe worth of stories waiting to be told, and I look forward to connecting best-in-class partners to our amazing creative team to bring them to life for current and new fans. Eyes up, guardian!” Although not attached to HBO per say, Warner Bros. Discovery was responsible for potentially the most successful video game adaptation in recent history.

For the release of HBO’s The Last of Us on HBO Max earlier this year, the series’ first season was already greenlit for a second before episode two aired. Even more, the TV show debuted at #2 for the platform with over 4.7 million households tuning in for the first episode. You can read the full report by heading here.
