Final Score

Summary

8/10

The game plays very much like any other action-platformer in the vein of Castlevania or Metroid, but the time-manipulation gives the game that extra special charm, to set it apart and make it a new and interesting gameplay experience. While the game was enjoyable, some of the platforming was very tight and finicky/precise.

As mentioned previously in our last review of the League of Legends Story’s (The Mageseeker), Over the past few years Riot Games has been doing alot to expand the League of Legends brand in new ways, not only with new game modes like ARAM or spin-offs like Teamfight Tatics or League of Runeterra, but also the Arcane: League of Legends Animated TV series and moving to mobile with Wild Rift. But today we are taking a look at yet another Instalment in Riots League of Legends spin-off story’s and projects; CONVERGENCE: A League of Legends Story .

Prepare yourself for an immersive journey through the intricate streets of Zaun, a city that never sleeps. In CONVERGENCE, you assume the role of Ekko, a brilliant young inventor armed with the unique ability to rewind time. Hailing from Zaun, a gritty steampunk metropolis concealed beneath the glossy facade of the technological paradise known as Piltover, Ekko’s origins are rooted in a city shrouded in shadows and hidden corners. Piltover and Zaun share a complex symbiotic relationship, as Piltover exploits its elevated position to exert oppressive control over the denizens of Zaun. Your objective is to safeguard the city against lurking dangers while unraveling a tale of deceit and mistrust. Developed by Double Stallion Games, this story-driven, single-player 2D action platformer offers dynamic combat mechanics and intriguing exploration opportunities.

Without spoiling the story, you must Utilize Ekko’s time-manipulating powers to analyze, strategize, and overcome formidable adversaries. The game plays very much like any other action-platformer in the vein of Castlevania or Metroid, but the time-manipulation gives the game that extra special charm to set it apart and make it a new and interesting gameplay experience.

While the game was enjoyable, some of the platforming was very tight and finicky/precise, and As myself and other Reviewers noticed, the Game doesn’t follow the Netflix series (Arcane) , as they are separate continuities. Ekko has parents here instead of being an orphan.

I look forward to Song of Nunu ( A Single-player puzzle Adventure) which is the upcoming chapter in the League of Legends Story to follow, as I’m always one for puzzles.
