Last week Microsoft fixed the servers of old Call of Duty games from the Xbox 360 era. The Call of Duty games included Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare 3 and the early Black Ops titles. Since the servers came back online players have been purchasing Xbox Series X’s.

Xbox Series X sales on Amazon have risen 84% since the move was made and people reported of the console being sold out in stores. Along with that, four of the old Call of Duty games have been among the top selling games for Xbox with Black Ops 2 leading the way. It seems COD games from over 10 years ago are gaining more traction for Xbox Series XlS than most recent titles like Modern Warfare II.

Microsoft and Activision Blizzard extended their merger while Microsoft and the CMA restructure the transaction for the United Kingdom. The extension leads into October 18th where they can close the deal. While they still have to figure things out with the U.K., Microsoft won the FTC battle to purchase Activision Blizzard and could technically close in the U.S.
Will owning Call of Duty be a positive move for Xbox?
