The live-action Minecraft has begun filming in New Zealand as of the end of December 2023 and it will feature Jason Momoa as one of the main characters. Today, it was revealed that Jack Black will star as Steve in the Minecraft movie.

The actor himself confirmed it himself with a post on social media:

The Minecraft film is set to release on April 4, 2025, as of right now, and as always a date that far out could always change. Danielle Brooks will also be in the live-action Minecraft movie along with Jason and Jack, but her role hasn’t been specified just yet.

Jack Black was known for his role as Bowser in the Super Mario Bros. Movie which was wildly successful. One of the most iconic parts of the film was ‘Peaches’, a song that Jack Black sang. Who knows if Jack will sing in the Minecraft film, but we shall see.
