Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy Producer Gives Interest On Apollo To “Flourish” In Future Entries

From Capcom, the publisher behind IPs like Resident Evil & Mega Man, the firm has been less focused on Ace Attorney for some time. Although the initial Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy more recently was welcomed to services like Xbox Game Pass last fall, a true new installment has yet to suffice. Even after the launch of The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, it only happens to be a modern localization for previous titles.

And still now, the series remains at a form of standstill with no future showing to be on the horizon. Although Capcom is preparing the launch of Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy later this month, it is only to revisit Nintendo DS/3Ds titles. But does that deem the series will never break new ground for a fresh installment or possibly a third trilogy?

Even now with no clear confirmation on the future of the franchise, Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy producer Kenichi Hashimoto does spare interest to see Apollo continue his story with the next entry; whatever that might be. “Apollo Justice is a charming and intriguing character, so I would like to see him flourish in the future of the series. Whether or not that will become a reality is still undetermined,” Hashimoto told Inverse in the interview.

He also goes into detail about Apollo’s upbringing in the series alongside prior Ace Attorney Phoenix Wright. “I think that Apollo Justice’s introduction allowed a new narrative to be told within the Ace Attorney series. While Phoenix assumes the role of Apollo’s mentor, he himself transforms into a more competent ‘super’ lawyer who takes on challenging court cases and emerges victorious.”

As for Hashimoto’s approach for Apollo to see the character continue for the series is sentimental to say the least. Similar to phrasing Apollo’s introduction being a “passing of the torch” for the protagonist, the same can also be said as Hashimoto spearheads this project as former Ace Attorney 5 & 6 game director Takeshi Yamazaki departed back in 2020.
