Sea Of Thieves Arrives To PlayStation 5 In April 2024, Cross-Play Confirmed For Launch

While what seemed intangible from being realized is now reality: Xbox game are coming to PlayStation. But as Phil Spencer addressed, “So, four games, no promise beyond that. So if you’re on those other platforms and see those four games coming, please do take it as some signal that everything’s coming – it’s not.” As of Wednesday February 21st, there are four games coming to the platform.

Already, it is established that three titles are coming from now until the spring. In that, Grounded, Pentiment, and Hi-Fi Rush are scheduled to ship for PlayStation & Nintendo Switch hardware. So what does that leave? According to reports from The Verge & Famitsu, Rare’s Sea of Thieves is on that list. And, it didn’t take long for the announcement!

In a Xbox Wire blog post, Rare & Xbox Game Studios share that Sea of Thieves is planned to release in April later this year. You can watch the reveal trailer in the video below:

“Sea of Thieves, the shared world adventure game from Rare, will be coming to PlayStation 5 on April 30 – and will be available to wishlist by PlayStation 5 players starting tomorrow, February 22,” the post reads. “Having built a passionate community of more than 35 million players from around the world, the support of cross play for Xbox, PlayStation and PC will allow players to experience epic pirate adventures with friends on more platforms.”

Mike Chapman, creative director on Sea of Thieves adds: Something we’ve always been passionate about is the idea that we should remove barriers that prevent players from playing together. […] The fact that players on PlayStation can step into that world and you can cross-play with all those other platforms just means that it’s just an exciting time for Sea of Thieves.”
