Last week Microsoft officially announced that Sea of Thieves will come to PlayStation 5 on April 30, 2024, with no plans for the Nintendo platform for now. It has already been confirmed the game will have cross-play with Xbox, PC, and PlayStation 5 when it arrives on the Sony platform.

The listing for Sea of Thieves on the PlayStation Store mentions you’ll need a Microsoft account in order to play the game on PS5.

“Microsoft account registration, acceptance of Microsoft Services Agreement and Privacy Statement required to play.”

If you are an experienced player in Sea of Thieves, there will be no worry about losing any progress you made on the account. So if you want to begin playing on PS5 after playing on PC or Xbox you can continue that journey like normal.
