Sonic 3 is for “All the Real Diehard Fans” Idris Elba states

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is coming to theaters this December 20 and it will feature more characters from the Sonic universe including Shadow the Hedgehog. It has been reported that Keanu Reeves will play the role of Shadow after much speculation it would be Hayden Christensen. Idris Elba is the voice of Knuckles who made his debut in Sonic 2 and he teases that Sonic 3 will be for “all the real diehard fans”.

This is what Idris Elba told Collider:

“I can tease nothing. No, seriously. I don’t even know what’s gonna happen in it. No, I’m joking. I can tell you that it’s super exciting. I can tell you that it really does get deeper into the universe of Sonic. I think 3’s probably the one for all the real diehard Sonic fans . They’re gonna get all of those Easter eggs in it.”

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will see the return of Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, Ben Schwartz as Sonic, and Colleen O’Shaughnessy as Tails. There has been a lot of chatter about Krysten Ritter playing the role of Rouge the Bat in Sonic 3. It was also reported that Alyla Browne, James Wold, Sofia Perna, Cristo Fernández, and Jorma Taccone have also been cast in the movie, but their roles remain unknown.

On April 26, 2024, Knuckles will be getting his own six-episode TV series on Paramount+ that will give a deep dive into the story of Knuckles.
