While I rate every game on what it showcases separately and never compare one game to another when it comes to score (unless from the same series), It takes a lot for an indie game to get a perfect 10/10 score and is a lot more rare. When it comes to Arranger: A Role-Puzzling Adventure, however … I could give it a 20/10 !!!

Arranger: A Role-Puzzling Adventure is a very unique Role-Puzzling Adventure, yes you read that correctly, a Role-Puzzling Adventure, it’s so unique it’s even a part of the game’s actual name.

Jemma, a quirky misfit from a quaint small town, embarks on an exhilarating journey of self-discovery. Breaking free from the suffocating comfort of her familiar surroundings, she ventures into an awe-inspiring world brimming with possibilities. Yet, this new realm is not just filled with wonder; it is overshadowed by a pervasive atmosphere of fear and a mysterious, immovable ‘static’ force that looms ominously over everything.

Determined to challenge the status quo, Jemma faces the daunting task of disrupting this culture of stagnation. As she navigates through this enigmatic world, she must find the strength and courage to carve out a place where she truly belongs. Jemma must overcome the obstacles and fears that hold this world captive and discover her unique place within it.

The gameplay unfolds on an innovative, interconnected grid that encompasses the entire world, seamlessly blending movement, exploration, and combat into a cohesive experience. Each time Jemma moves, anything aligned with her in the same row or column shifts as well. This dynamic can even wrap around the edges of the grid, introducing a delightful sense of chaos and surprise. This system continuously generates a series of intricate, small puzzles, encouraging players to engage with and master the central mechanic in imaginative ways. The result is a captivating blend of strategy and spontaneity, keeping players on their toes as they navigate this ever-changing landscape.

Arranger isn’t just unique in the way you move and explore, It is uniquely creative in the way it eliminates the usual burdens of managing experience points (XP) or inventory. Instead, everything is seamlessly integrated into the world itself, allowing players to focus on the adventure and narrative without the distraction of complex menus and resource management. This streamlined approach makes the game not only more accessible but also more enjoyable.

The campaign is nicely-sized lasting about 5-6 hours, offering a fulfilling experience that balances a well-paced main storyline with a variety of optional challenges. These additional quests and activities provide extra content for those seeking to delve deeper into the game’s world, offering more opportunities for exploration and engagement. The game’s length and structure ensure that players can enjoy a rich and complete adventure without feeling overwhelmed or fatigued, and the game offers various assist options so that you only get as stuck as you want to be if you are struggling with some puzzles.

In conclusion, Arranger: A Role-Puzzling Adventure is a true masterpiece that sets a new standard for indie games. Its innovative gameplay mechanics, unique world design, and captivating narrative come together to create an unforgettable experience that will leave players eager for more. The game’s ability to seamlessly blend movement, exploration, and combat into a cohesive experience is a testament to its exceptional design, and its elimination of traditional RPG burdens such as XP and inventory management allows players to focus on the adventure at hand.

With its well-paced campaign, engaging storyline, and variety of optional challenges, Arranger offers a rich and complete adventure that is sure to delight players of all skill levels. The game’s assist options and gentle difficulty curve ensures that players can enjoy the game without feeling overwhelmed, making it an excellent choice for anyone looking for a fun and rewarding gaming experience. Overall, Arranger: A Role-Puzzling Adventure is a must-play for anyone who loves puzzle-adventure games, and its unique blend of creativity and innovation makes it a standout title in the genre.
