Pocketpair’s Palworld just this past week has received new attention. While the game is touted a major release since January 2024 accruing for more than 25 million players, Nintendo & The Pokémon Company are eager to diminish that. In a new filing, a patent lawsuit has been issued to PocketPair on infringement from Palworld.
Currently, the game is unaffected by this action. Previously, many did speculate that the game would eventually adopt a free-to-play business model. But, the Japanese developer confirmed that is not the case for Palworld. What is more interesting is that fans did piece together slight hints to more platforms supporting Palworld in the future.
And from the PlayStation State of Play presentation, that is the case now with a native PlayStation 5 version now available. You can watch the launch trailer in the video below:
However, there is a caveat after all. It appears that the Japanese version for Palworld is still in the air despite more than 5 dozen different countries receiving support following the announcement. “As announced in the official PlayStation “State of Play,” the PS5 version of ‘Palworld’ was released today in 68 countries and regions around the world,” the post on X reads through an auto-translator.
“The release date in Japan has not yet been decided. We apologize to everyone in Japan who was looking forward to it, but all of our staff will do our best to deliver it to PS5 users as soon as possible, so we hope you will wait for a little longer. We look forward to your continued support of Pal World.” Perhaps Nintendo’s involvement did leave some impact – at least in its home country.
