SCUF Gaming, the creator of some of the most high-performance gaming controllers has released a brand new controller for Xbox and PC gamers. We have been fortunate enough to get our hands on the SCUF Valor Pro Wired Controller.

The brand-new Valor Pro Wired Controller is built on SCUF’s legacy of innovation and it’s the first of its kind from the company. This controller is aimed at competitive gamers who play titles like Halo, Call of Duty, Apex Legends, and other related games. But it’s also an affordable option for those who would love to get a good taste of SCUF.

The Valor Pro Wired Controller features Remappable Back Paddles, Anti-Drift Hall Effect Thumbsticks, Dedicated Audio Controls, and more.

Remappable Back Paddles: Four integrated paddles are ergonomically placed so gamers don’t need to modify their grip. Full hardware remapping across three profiles. Inner paddles are removable/blankable and all paddles can be turned off by mapping them to share.

Anti-Drift Hall Effect Thumbsticks: Hall effect thumbsticks use magnets to detect movement, significantly reducing the risk of thumbstick drift. These cutting-edge thumbsticks have been exhaustively calibrated to feel as close to normal, analog thumbsticks as possible.

SCUF Ergonomic Legacy: More than thirteen years of ergonomic SCUF learnings and expertise applied to upgrade the Xbox shape with a more compact design. Uniquely Designed For Comfort

The Valor Pro SCUF Controller is more than just a new Xbox controller; it features a completely redesigned structure. While the overall shape of the shell has only minor differences, the bumpers stand out significantly. They are slightly longer, which enhances the overall user experience.

The grips on the back of the controller are a significant advantage, but it’s worth noting that the faceplates have a unique texture. I’ve never used a controller that was comfortable to hold both from the front and the back.

A negative aspect of the Valor Pro that I could see is that it could feel a little small on some people’s hands. Personally, I found it to be the perfect fit. 

One of the standout features of the SCUF controller is its ability to control audio when your headset is connected. It includes two scroll wheels: one for game volume and another for voice chat. Typically, you would need to purchase an upgraded headset to access these features, but with the Valor Pro controller, you have everything you need.

There are no new buttons on the controller, except for the paddles on the back, which can be mapped using the iCue software. I haven’t had the chance to explore the programming options for this controller yet. A nice feature is that the paddles can be removed, which is great for people like me who don’t use them very often.

The faceplates are also magnetic and can be replaced. SCUF Gaming sells a variety of faceplates for the Valor Pro Wired Controller featuring designs from esports teams, personalities, and generic designs. 

With there being Hall Effect Thumbsticks this means the potential for drift has shrinked and should never happen with this controller. This feature is where the value of controllers usually go up like we’ve seen with PowerA’s Fusion line. 

Verdict: Consider It

The SCUF Valor Pro Controller for Xbox and PC is an excellent choice for anyone seeking an upgraded wired controller. I especially recommend this controller for PC gamers. Although it is marketed primarily for Xbox, I believe it offers even more advantages for those playing on PC.

Let’s not forget this controller will be the most affordable option from SCUF Gaming as their other lines run at least $169 or more. The fact it also comes with customizable options aesthetically as well is a huge advantage to its competitors.
