This past fall, Asobo Studio welcomed the next addition to the rebounded Microsoft Flight Simulator with ‘Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024’. “For the ultimate immersion, a flight stick is highly recommended, but even with a controller, the game delivers an engaging and authentic sense of piloting. Whether you’re soaring through familiar skies or discovering new corners of the globe, this flight sim offers a consistently rewarding journey through the breathtaking expanse of our world,” our review for the game reads.
On the base side of Microsoft Flight Simulator, the developer has continued to pour in free content for the 2020 release. Then, World Update XVII features new emphasis on the United Kingdom with updates to England, Ireland, and Scotland. “This long awaited and oft-requested Microsoft Flight Simulator: World Update XIX is filled with excitement and beauty that enhances over half the land mass of South America with its coverage of Brazil, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana. Brazil and its northern bordering countries of Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana are home to some of the planet’s most spectacular sights and ecosystems,” Asobo Studio writes.
“The region encompasses much of the vast Amazon Basin, Caribbean and Atlantic coastlines, and modern cities. World Update XIX invites you to explore these diverse regions, reproduced in exquisite detail. […] Microsoft Flight Simulator partnered with Bing Maps, Maxar and Vexcel to create this update, featuring sights ranging from vast dune fields to bustling metropolises. The team fused several types of recent geospatial data, including aerial photographs, satellite imagery, DEM (digital elevation model) data, and DTM (digital terrain model) data to bring the most realistic, real-time images.”
