The wheel that keeps turning for Microsoft’s gaming endeavor is Xbox Game Pass. Beyond just a console business model, the Xbox firm has been continuously pushing to reach more users. We’ve seen this with the continued promise for cross-buy support for your purchase library – regardless of platform. Additionally, it even records the markets that practice this. In April, Microsoft issued metrics revealing Gen Z & Gen Alpha players are gaming through multi-device routines.
As for the reach to bring in more users, the firm has continued committing to promotions for its users. Earlier we saw this with its new live-service perks for titles like The Finals & Genshin Impact for those on the Ultimate tier. Additionally, long-term users is the end goal for Xbox. Even Phil Spencer admitted that the service only benefits those that game avidly; not the 2 games a year players.
As of February 2024, Microsoft issued that Xbox Game Pass has accounted over 34 million users. So what about a year and half from then? Roughly its recorded at 35+million – that is according to one Microsoft employee. On LinkedIn, Microsoft Subscription Operations, Performance Analysis Program Manager Kevin K in his experience states at least 35 million is the new measurement for the service’s population.
“I managed live operations for Xbox Game Pass, ensuring seamless game title launches and meeting performance benchmarks. I led operational strategies across teams for a 0-1 product, driving subscriber growth from 0 to 35M+ worldwide,” Kevin K wrote in his contract experience for Microsoft. It should be noted that this is not officially released metrics on behalf of Microsoft.
Although the program manager is still working on behalf of the firm, it is not properly released numbers to account for fully. However, it does coincide with one previous report that subscribers numbers should see a sizable increase from the latest Call of Duty hitting the service last fall that measures the same to what he posted on his account.
