It has become one of the worst-kept secrets this year as Halo Studios has been developing a Halo: Combat Evolved Remake. The game is also rumored to release on PlayStation 5, bringing the 24-year-old franchise to other consoles for the first time.
There have been growing concerns over the last week since Microsoft had another large set of layoffs impacting 9,000 employees. A lot of these layoffs impacted studios, including Halo Studios. It was also teased that more news will come in October at the Halo World Championships.
A new report from a reliable Halo insider, Rebs Gaming, claims that the Halo: Combat Evolved Remake is only going to feature a Campaign Mode. The remake would be developed in Unreal Engine 5, which was already teased last year at the Halo World Championships.
According to Rebs’ YouTube video, development on the remake of Halo: Combat Evolved began in 2023, with plans for its release in 2026 as part of Xbox and Halo’s 25th anniversary celebration. This information is coming from a source that helped develop Halo Infinite, Rebs Gaming says.
More Halo Projects In Development
While tension has been growing at Halo Studios, there seem to be at least 3 projects in the works for the franchise. One being the Halo: CE Remake and another being Project Ekur which will be an only multiplayer game. Lastly, Halo 7 is also in the works. It probably won’t be released until the next-gen Xbox releases in a few years.
