The Nintendo Switch 2 is no doubt a huge success for Nintendo, and it’s had the biggest launch in history for a video game console. The console sold over 3.5 million units in just its first four days worldwide, and it’s likely even higher over a month later. Not only is it doing well worldwide, but it’s exceeding expectations in Japan.
According to Japanese outlet Yomiuri Shimbun, Nintendo Switch 2 has broken the first-month sales record set by the PlayStation 2. The Nintendo Switch 2 has sold 1,538,260 units in its first month, while the PlayStation 2 sold just 1,134,862 units in its first month of release years ago.
Nintendo has been trying to take down the PS2 in sales with the Switch as it inches closer to the 160 million units sold, which is what the PlayStation 2 is at.
The company has not released any new sales numbers as far as total consoles sold to date and how much software it sold since June 5.
Do you think the Switch 2 can beat the overall sales of the PS2?
