On Friday, it was announced by Deadline that Warner Bros. and New Line’s Mortal Kombat 2 movie received a delay from its original October 24 release date in theaters. The Mortal Kombat 2 film will now come to theaters on May 15, 2026.
The reason for the delay is believed to be that the Simon McQuoid-directed sequel could get a ton more sales at the box office in the middle of May instead of staying in a “crowded late October” where 20th Century Studios’ Bruce Springsteen movie will take the spotlight in October, along with other films such as Halloween.
When the Mortal Kombat sequel comes to theaters, there are high expectations for its performance as it features Karl Urban, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Tati Gabrielle, Adeline Rudolph, and many others.
No other information was released regarding any other reasons for the movie’s delay. Just a month ago Warner Bros. seemed to be all in on promoting the movie with its newest trailer showing over two minutes of action.
