UPDATE: Microsoft provided a statement to Windows Central that “Target and Walmart, among other retailers, remain committed partners for Xbox consoles, accessories, and games”.
Original: More major retailers are starting to pull Xbox games from their shelves, and it all started with Costco in September. It has now been discovered by users online, including Reddit, that Walmart and Target are starting to downsize their Xbox stock, and to be more specific, physical Xbox games.
It was first shared by The Gamer, where they quoted a few Reddit users. One user, Jawwaad127, said that a Target he worked at has removed all Xbox games and is pretty sure it is going to be store-wide.
Another user from r/Xbox, CodeE1985 shared an image of a Target in Kansas City that shows all Xbox games removed.
Reddit user Spacefox_85 also commented, saying the Walmart store they work at is getting rid of Xbox games, too. They are having a remodel at the store and a whole new layout for electronics that will exclude Xbox games.
At Rectify Gaming, we can also confirm that at a recent visit to a Target located in New York that they’ve already gotten rid of Xbox games from shelves. However, it looks like Controllers, Consoles, and other accessories will still be sold for Xbox. It’ll likely just be more digital game cards.
Are you surprised by more retailers downsizing their electronics section?
