Over the course of these few years, console turnout has put itself into an interesting spot. While still a prominent form of entertainment, the point of entry has entered new territory for the market. Although the platforms accounted for just over a quarter of the market shared with PC, the remaining 50 percent was occupied by mobile gaming. Even this past Black Friday season has faced record lows for consoles sales; accounting for just over one million combined sales.

Now, problems arise as AI machine learning has gone into full gear with many firms invested are buying out RAM and other silicon to further fuel the endeavor. As a result, it has shown with skyrocketing prices for PC building essentials. At ASUS, it was revealed that new pricing for its products are to go into effect. However, it does not appear to stop just there.

According to InsiderGaming, major console makers PlayStation & Xbox are possibly impacted how soon the next-generation consoles will arrive. Last month, the publication acknowledged that increased pricing on RAM specifically could affect turnout for the next line of systems. Through conversations in the industry, now additional price hikes as well as new hardware delays are on the table for the market.

As mentioned, the rise in AI is putting a strain on availability for components like RAM and is leaving manufacturers to question if delivering to meet the demand for next-gen is feasible. And to simply put it currently, pushing the release is more realistic than releasing another lifecycle with limited supply similar to 2020 at the rise of COVID. Of course, pricing will also be out of proportion too even with production in tow with demand.

The outlet did insist that the 2027-28 window is being considered later for the new Xbox and PlayStation. However, there is no confirming understanding on when the new machines will arrive ultimately. At least for Microsoft, it did reportedly strike a deal with Foxconn to produce more Xbox systems predicting how limited silicon will be in the near future.
