Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 Announced, Coming August 2026

Back in 2023, Konami announced Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. The game is a remake of the original 2004 release with new content and visuals unlike what was on the hardware available then. It went on to ship this past summer alongside its own package of ‘Special Games’ for select platforms as well.

Around the same time as the announcement for the remake, Konami also unveiled Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1. The game was a portfolio of most of the classic Metal Gear titles. However, it was still left with a shroud of uncertainty for other titles later in the series’ lineage. One is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots as it was tied down as a PlayStation 3 exclusive. But, one leak indicated that wouldn’t be the case come Vol. 2 at a later date.

During the PlayStation State of Play, Konami revealed Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 and the 2008 title is officially coming to more platforms after nearly two decades. You can watch the announcement trailer in the video below:

“The package includes Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, originally released on PS3, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (the PS3 HD Collection version of the PSP original) and the series’ first handheld title Metal Gear: Ghost Babel (launched on handheld in 2000), which will be selectable within the Bonus Content section of the Collection,” Konami shares in the PlayStation Blog post.

“And we can confirm a final post-launch update is coming to Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 which adds new visual updates to the games in the collection,” the firm also celebrated in the press release. Owners of the original game will also receive content for Vol. 2 like Gold Camouflage in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots & Uniform:GOLD in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.
