2025 was a strong year for new Ninja Gaiden releases. In August, players were met with Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound. “It’s one of the best retro revivals of the generation: joyous, relentlessly fun, and bursting with creative confidence.” Rectify Gaming’s 8/10 review also described the game as a “loving tribute and a fresh vision brimming with style and substance.”
Additionally, developers PlatinumGames & Team Ninja shipped Ninja Gaiden 4. In partnership with Xbox Game Studios, the long-awaited fourth installment finally came to fruition. Despite being on Xbox, the game was in a scare for a physical release. But, the Xbox firm later went on to ship the game with a physical after all alongside The Outer Worlds 2 then.
Now this week, Ninja Gaiden 4 is back in the spotlight with a new DLC arriving in the form of ‘The Two Masters’. You can watch the trailer for the add-on in the video below:
“The Two Masters will also introduce two new weapons to expand Yakumo and Ryu’s combat styles. Yakumo will wield a new ‘Solitaire’ scythe to cut down swathes of enemies and manage crowd control, while Ryu’s new ‘Jakotsumon’ serpent gauntlets are perfect for fast, close-quarters combat and provide new ways to close the distance on opponents,” Team Ninja creative director Tom Lee explains.
“Alongside the new story content and weapons, players can look forward to Abyssal Road, a new endurance-style mode that challenges veterans with successive combat encounters and escalating intensity. This mode features 100 unique combat encounters, featuring enemies from both the base game and DLC, while debuting the new Special Blood Essence and Frenzied enemy mechanics that dynamically change battle conditions.”
