McDonald’s is once again blending fast food with gaming culture, this time with a quirky and surprisingly practical twist. The global fast food giant has unveiled a new “Pro Gamer Menu” in Türkiye, and it comes bundled with a limited edition gadget designed to solve one of gaming’s most relatable problems: going AFK mid match.
This is far from McDonald’s’ first foray into gaming crossovers. Over the years, the brand has leaned into the space with collaborations tied to major franchises and personalities. Fans might remember the hugely popular Travis Scott Meal, which blurred the line between music and gaming culture thanks to Scott’s presence in Fortnite. There was also the BTS Meal, which sparked massive global engagement, and even Pokémon themed Happy Meals celebrating Pokémon cards that quickly became collector items.
Now, McDonald’s Türkiye is taking a more direct aim at gamers themselves with a tongue in cheek but functional addition to its menu.

The Pro Gamer Menu is exactly what it sounds like: a standard meal with a gaming themed twist. Available exclusively through McDelivery in Türkiye, the bundle includes a Big Mac, medium fries, a medium Coke, and an eight piece serving of onion rings. However, the real draw is the inclusion of a small device called the Archie.

The Archie is modeled after McDonald’s iconic golden arches, but it is more than just a novelty item. The gadget is designed to sit between the analog sticks of a controller, keeping them slightly engaged so that your character continues to move in game. In other words, it prevents you from being flagged as AFK while you take a break to eat.
It is a simple solution to a common problem. In many online multiplayer games, stepping away even briefly can result in penalties, idle kicks, or frustrated teammates. By keeping the controller active, the Archie offers a workaround that feels both clever and a little mischievous.
According to Özdeş Dönen Artak, Chief Marketing Officer of McDonald’s Türkiye, the idea stems directly from player behavior. He noted that stepping away from the screen during high intensity gameplay can disrupt the flow of a match, leading many players to come up with their own improvised fixes. The Archie essentially formalizes that workaround into a branded accessory.
Of course, there is a catch. The Pro Gamer Menu and the Archie device are extremely limited and only available in Türkiye, making them inaccessible to most of the global audience. As with many of McDonald’s regional promotions, the exclusivity is part of the appeal, even if it leaves fans elsewhere hoping for a wider rollout.
Whether the Archie becomes a sought after collectible or just another oddball marketing experiment remains to be seen. Either way, it highlights how deeply intertwined gaming and mainstream culture have become, and how brands like McDonald’s continue to find new ways to tap into that audience.
