An Atomfall TV Series is in development with developer Rebellion and Two Brothers Pictures, producers from ‘The Assassin’ and ‘Fleabag’.
The announcement was posted today by both companies. Atomfall turned out to be a hit for Rebellion. It won Best British Game at the BAFTA Game Awards this month and has received over 3.7 million players since it was released last year.
Atomfall is an original idea by Rebellion co-founder Jason Kingsley, along with his brother Chris Kingsley. The game is inspired by a real-life event, which is the disaster at the Windscale nuclear plant in 1957, which is still the worst nuclear accident in the United Kingdom.
The video game follows a protagonist who wakes up inside the Quarantine Zone with no memory of how they arrived. As they search for a way out, they become entangled in a web of competing factions, encountering an eclectic cast of characters, each with their own agenda. Drawing on the legacy of classic British sci‑fi, with elements of folk horror, Atomfall blends nuclear paranoia with ancient mythology.

The story is set within a single Quarantine Zone in the Lake District – a walled, militarized area established after the nuclear incident. While the outside world is assumed to continue as normal, life within the zone has deteriorated into something far stranger.
The Atomfall TV Series will be written by Emmy and Golden Globe-winning producers and writers, Harry and Jack Williams. Jason and Chris Kingsley will also executive produce the show.
“Atomfall has such a distinctive British tone and setting, and it’s been a real joy developing it alongside the Rebellion team – especially as two brothers working alongside two brothers (Jason Kingsley CBE and Chris Kingsley CBE – co-founders of Rebellion). There’s something very exciting about expanding this strange, unsettling story for television,” Harry and Jack Williams, writers and Executive Producers at Two Brothers said.
It has yet to be determined which streaming service would handle the show.
Atomfall is available to play on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. In our review of the game, we scored it an 8.5 out of 10. It provides stunning views and entertaining gameplay. It’s a must-play for anyone who enjoys open-world survival games.
