Earlier this week, Rockstar Games officially released pre-orders for GTA 6 on XBOX Series X|S and PlayStation 5. It had already seen record numbers, according to reports going around. The biggest surprised from the pre-orders is that GTA 6 will be a digital-only launch. However, it has been reported by a polish media outlet and possibly hinted by Rockstar Games support that a true physical disc will come later on.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, they confirmed the authenticity of the email that came from Rockstar Games. The outlet says the language is being misinterpreted by a hopeful internet, a source told the outlet that there are no plans for Grand Theft Auto 6 discs to be printed. That includes months after its official release.
As it stands, consumers need to prepare that the “physical” version of GTA 6 will just be the case with a code in the box. The “physical” version is also planned to released on November 12, seven days ahead of launch so everyone can preload the game.
Rockstar Games themselves have not talked about the possibility of an actual physical disc. What’s also worth mentioning is that Sony accidentally put up a PlayStation 5 with a disc drive in its promo before changing it to the digital edition PS5.
We’ll just have to see what happens down the road at this point.
