The ongoing Microsoft Flight Simulator experience has been propelled by the release of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 over a year ago. In 2025, the game received a Stranger Things collaboration which released alongside the series’ finale then. And on PlayStation 5, full support for PlayStation VR2 arrived as well just this past week.
As for the core Microsoft Flight Simulator title itself, Asobo Studio has remained adamant in continuing to support the game with global updates for the real-time setting. In March last year, World Update XIX focused on the South American region with updates to regions like Brazil & Guiana. Also, September shipped World Update 20 which returned to Japan – the region that introduced the update structure for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Now this week, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is back with a new update. This time, Australia is back in rotation after being featured in World Update VII back in 2022. Asobo Studio is also memorializing the volunteers of the NSW Rural Fire Service that took place. You can read the list of the featured territories below:

“Unique for this World Update is Microsoft Flight Simulator’s collaboration with the New South Wales (NSW) Rural Fire Service (RFS), widely acknowledged as the largest volunteer fire service in the world. Comprised of nearly 40,000 dedicated volunteers, the RFS is rooted in the NSW communities, studiously managing bushfires that remain a significant, reoccurring threat across Australia,” the Xbox Wire post highlights.
“World Update 21: Australia that brings to the region 30+ new photogrammetry cities, six new airports, 36 new handcrafted points of interest (POIs) like The Big Koala, new Discovery Flights over locations such as the Cocos Islands, and new activities ranging from Landing Challenges, Rally Races, and a Bush Trip.”
