Today, Xbox Game Studios and Playground Games announced Fable is going to be delayed to 2027.
Normally, when games get delayed, it’s because development is not complete and the developer wants more time to polish. That can be said here, but in the announcement itself, they mention how many games are coming out this year, including GTA VI. Halo and Gears of War are, of course, still on track for a 2026 release.
It’s rare to see games get delayed because there’s too much going on around them. Fable is an important IP for Xbox that has high expectations to succeed.
Playground Games shared the following statement as well:
“We know this stings, but it won’t be much longer before you’re back in Albion making morally questionable decisions.”
Fable was initially planned to release in Autumn 2026.
