Grand Theft Auto 6 To Receive Physical Disc Release In December 2026, It’s Claimed

There has been a lot of discussions online how Rockstar Games is releasing Grand Theft Auto 6 as a digital-only game at first. Although fans can buy the physical case for the game, it will be a code in a box. However, according to a report from Polish media outlet, Ppe.pl, a physical disc release for Grand Theft Auto 6 is coming in December 2026.

According to the outlet’s sources, they confirm that codes for physical versions of Grand Theft Auto VI will only be available for a maximum of several weeks after the game’s release.

“GTA 6 is to be sold with a code in the box only around the release, and then we will receive a normal boxed version of the game – with a disc on which we will find data allowing us to run GTA 6 without assigning a key/access to our account on PlayStation or Xbox.”

The disc edition is expected to release just before the holidays as an effort to maximize profits as parents would be rushing to get the game as Christmas gifts. As usual, this is just a rumor so we must take this with a grain of salt until Rockstar Games says so.

We also must mention this is the same outlet that made a report in January 2026 of GTA 6 not having a physical release to prevent leaks. It looks like they were correct about that despite Take-Two Interactive denying that.

Rockstar Games Support May Have Hinted Of Physical Disc

A user has reached out to Rockstar Games Support asking about the physical edition. They mention to the customer that the current pre-order is indeed just for a digital only update and you will be able to acquire a physical copy during the following months.
