It is a hybrid handheld and home console so you can bring your game out on the streets with your friends and bring multiple controllers to play with. The console for sure uses Cartridges, The 2 detachable controllers on the Switch are called Joy-Con controllers.
One player can use a Joy-Con controller in each hand; two players can each take one; or multiple Joy-Con can be employed by numerous people for a variety of gameplay options.
