For those interested in seeing more traditional gameplay for Sea of Thieves are in luck, just announced by Microsoft is the closed beta for the game and those playing can record, screenshot and discuss about the game.
The beta will start January 24 and end on January 29. Time list below for different time zones:

  • Eastern Standard Time (EST):
    7am on Wednesday 24th January to 3am on Monday 29th January
  •  Central Standard Time (CST):
    6am on Wednesday 24th January to 2am on Monday 29th January
  • Pacific Standard Time (PST):
    4am on Wednesday 24th January to 12am on Monday 29th January
  • Central European Time (CET):
    1pm on Wednesday 24th January to 9am on Monday 29th January

Those who’ve preordered the game or joined the game’s Insider Program before December 1, 2017 will be able to participate in the beta.
Unlike the previous closed betas, players can now capture as much as they please. This beta will feature a chunk of the game for what’s to be expected when the game officially launches on March 10, 2017.
