Arkane Studios, known for their hit series Dishonored, has recently stated in an interview that we might not see more from the game’s universe for a while.
According to VG247, they spoke with Arkane’s Lead Designer Ricardo Bare at Quakecon about the future of Dishonored. Bare in response to future installments for the series:
“I can’t say definitively what might happen down the road, anything could happen, but [Dishonored] is resting for now. As far as pure immersive sims go, I don’t know if we’re going to continue to make like carbon copy – this qualifies as an immersive sim and it’s the only thing we’re ever going to make.”
Following the sales of Dishonored 2 compared to its predecessor, it wasn’t impressive, which most likely influenced Arkane holding off any other titles making their way in the future. The standalone expansion Death of the Outsider, as well as the sequel, both being well received, were unable to reach expected figures in the long run.
When we might see a return to Corvo’s story wasn’t mentioned in the interview, so those eager to see another sequel will have to be patient as the studio works on other projects in the mean time.
