Gaming this generation has made an odd turn towards cross-play interactivity between competing platforms ranging between Microsoft’s Xbox One, Nintendo’s Switch, Sony’s PlayStation 4, and PC. However, this turn has only began as currently Fortnite and Rocket League are the only two to implement the feature.

While Epic Games currently capitalizes on complete cross-play support with both titles, that looks to change in the coming months. Already with Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare this October to be the first installment in the series to include the implementation between the three major platforms, Switch excluded, Hi-Rez Studio will be doing the same with its three current online-focused titles.

Announced this past Thursday, the Georgia-based developer revealed that PlayStation 4 cross platform play will be coming to Smite, Paladins, and Realm Royale.

Making this a monumental achievement for the American studio is that this will bridge the gap for player interactivity between different platforms for three games in one instance. A historical moment for not only Hi-Rez, but for the entirety of this industry as players from all corners will be able to indulge in the trio of titles with friends disregarding their platform of choice.

The team has already disclosed that the arena fighter Paladins since Thursday is the first to receive complete cross-play imbedded into the game’s online lobbies. The remaining Smite and Realm Royale are said to receive the same at a later, unspecified time.

Are you excited to play the three games with your friends from all varying hardware?
