Just this February, the gaming market was praised with the nostalgic remake for Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 which reiterated on the classic 1998 title with a fresh coat of paint intertwined a reworked control scheme, realistic & volumetric graphics, and indulging even more into the experience that hardware two decades ago could never achieve. However, there was word that the game could expect a successor sometime down the line.

Previously in January, Resident Evil 2 Remake Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi did tease that the team at Capcom would work on bringing the same development reconditioning that the sequel received to Resident Evil 3, but only if the user base is very vocal about the project to conjure the development into reality. Since then, word has yet to break on if Capcom has been listening or not, until now it seems.

According to a report from Eurogamer, the developer has already started development on the third installment a while back. In response to YouTuber SpawnWave who initiated the initial speculation of a third rework, the video game outlet confirms the project’s development to already started as heard through inside sources at Capcom. The YouTuber expanded on the topic by sharing that the game is scheduled to arrive sometime in 2020 as of recently.

Any further detail regarding the Resident Evil 3 Remake has been left to speculation as Capcom has yet to properly address these claims since the news broke over this past weekend. However, knowing that the developer has poked at potential future versions of classic titles, it will be some time until the game is properly disclosed. Perhaps at The Game Awards next month if we’re lucky.

What do you think should be different if the remake happens to be legitimate?
