Fans of the Mortal Kombat franchise are surely in for a treat this year as it was revealed through a report from The Hollywood Reporter that a new film separate from the upcoming live-action adaptation will be arriving later in 2021. Disclosing the film’s name to be ‘Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge’, the entertainment-centered outlet tells that the animated film is expected to arrive in “the first half of this year”.

Unlike the real-time film interpretation of the popular video game series, The Hollywood Reporter shares a handful of actors that will be involved with voicing for the new motion picture. Revealing that Joel McHale (Community) will be voicing the well-known Johnny Cage alongside Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter) to voice Sonya Blade. The report goes on to disclose an additional ten actors who will be portraying Mortal Kombat characters in the film.

  • Kevin Michael Richardson as Goro
  • Grey Griffin as Kitana & Satoshi Hasashi
  • Fred Tatasciore as Demon Toturer

Providing detail on the hands behind the project, Ethan Spaulding will be at helm of the film given the role as Director. Spaulding is most known from his work with Batman: Assault on Arkham and Justice League: throne of Atlantis. The script being penned by Jeremy Adams who also worked on Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans.

Batman: Return of the Caped Crusader’s Rick Morales will be standing as a Producer while Batman: Gotham by Gaslight’s Jim Krieg will pose as co-producer. NetherRealm Studios’ head Ed Boon will also be involved standing as a Creative Consultant on the upcoming film.
