The current status for 2020 and the pandemic of cancelled gaming events for this year has been an upsetting sight for anticipated followers especially with next-generation consoles just on the other side of the horizon. However, organizers have gone the lengths to operate through the means of a digital platform to display upcoming announcement from the next big release for the industry.

Such as the recent announcement from Informa Tech which replaces the current GDC Summer with a digital format just this week. The orchestrators tell that the approach for this year without having to travel to San Francisco will benefit more teams that have already accustomed themselves to the work-from-home tactic of work style since the looming virus continued to hold a vice grip on society as a whole.

In the midst of online showcases and virtual events, Game Awards host Geoff Keighley announces a new event that will take place running through the course of several months. Revealing Summer Game Fest, fans can expect to witness new information on approaching announcements, playable demos, and themed events from May until this approach August.

The announcement made by Keighley does add context to his recent actions earlier this year. Back in February, the awards show host announced to be departing from attending this coming E3 since the debut of the show back in 1995: telling that he would not be producing 2020’s E3 Coliseum. Now we are aware of his new plans since the shocking reveal more than two months ago.

Keighley is also responsible for the approaching August-held Gamescom Opening Night Live show prior to kicking off the annual event. However, the event will instead be resorting to a digital base instead of its annual Cologne-held venue in Germany. At the time of contemplating the virtual alternative show, Keighley shared that this year’s presentation will be going live on August 24.

In a separate tweet elsewhere, Keighley reveals ‘Phase One’ of Summer Game Fest by showcasing participating companies that will be involved with the first segment of the show. Firms like Activision, Bethesda, and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment to be just some that are involved.

It is expected from the timing for may to August, that Summer Game Fest will conclude prior to this year’s Gamescom Opening Night Live in the latter of the summer month. Neither Geoff Keighley nor the event itself has spared details on when the first bulk of details will be revealed from the newly announced event.

What are your thoughts on this new show to run for the next couple of months via online?

Summer Game Fest will commence sometime this month with the concluding show to arrive later in August.
