Another month means another deep dive into the next free update that will be coming to Sea of Thieves. This week, developer Rare unveiled the Haunted Shores update for the 2018-released game which offers more ghostly endeavors alongside more requested features that returning players have been asking for since the game’s commencement.

Looking over the oceans, you will spot the ghastly Captain Flameheart as his apparition sits in the skyline. With his continue venture for more power, the old age legend is given the ability to rip dimensions between reality and the Sea of the Damned. With that, Captain Flameheart can now usher in an armada of ghost ships to face off under the rule of Flameheart himself in the new update.

These new ghostly vessels are faster than what players have experienced before and can pack a punch with their effective Phantom Cannonballs and ghost mines they litter in the treacherous waters. Destroying said ships will reward players with unique & chilling loot as well as propping a battle against Captain Flameheart’s ship, the Burning Blade.

Excitingly, Rare has also introduced new sea shanties for players to perform alongside a selection wheel including all of your favorite to choose from.

There are also two new events that have been segued with the Haunted Shores update: Ashen Expedition which runs every Tuesday that doubles rewards of all ashen items and Shark Hunt which will be active from June 24 – July 8 posing players to hunt the notorious Megalodon for a larger payout than regularly.
