Absurd Ventures Reveals Original IPs ‘A Better Paradise’, ‘American Caper’

One of the most popular game studios, Rockstar Games, is preparing an announcement later in December in anticipation for the next Grand Theft Auto game. After more than a decade of waiting with Grand Theft Auto V, players will soon have something to look forward to. And this will also be the first entry without the founder Houser duo overseeing development.

Previously in July 2021, Dan Houser left Rockstar Games to kickstart a new operation, Absurd Ventures. At the time, it was undetermined how involved this new project will be for Houser after leaving the video game empire. In June 2023, Houser officially established Absurd Ventures sharing the new startup will be a transmedia firm covering games to film/television.

This week, Absurd Ventures in a new press release share it first two original IPs that will be coming from the Dan Houser-led operation – A Better Paradise & American Caper..

AMERICAN CAPER centers on two normal, badly damaged American families in a world of corrupt business, inept politics and bungling crime. AMERICAN CAPER will debut as a graphic novel that is being illustrated by renowned comic book artist Simon Bisley.

A BETTER PARADISE is an existential suspense thriller, set in the near future. A 12-episode audio fiction series based on the A BETTER PARADISE universe is currently in production.  Absurd Ventures is partnering with award-winning audio company QCODE Media to co-produce the audio series.

“We are excited to introduce these two universes, and their characters and lore,” Houser expresses in a statement for the press release. “They represent our approach to storytelling and media. These initial releases will allow us to introduce these universes at the same time as we are working on other iterations and expansions. This is just the beginning.”

The press release also elaborates on how Absurd Ventures operate beyond the new projects. “Absurd Ventures is in development on a wide range of projects, including animation, video games, graphic novels, audio fiction and more. Absurd Ventures will be sharing more information about AMERICAN CAPER and A BETTER PARADISE in the months ahead on its social media pages and website, where users can register and receive exclusive AV content and updates.”
