It’s no news that BioWare’s attempt to bounce back from 2017’s Mass Effect: Andromeda has not gone according to plan as we have seen with the launch and aftermath of February-released Anthem. And while the team hoped that the Cataclysm would spark more players to jump into their Javelins, it looks that the game still needed more following the off taste the initial launch left for players in the market.
However, the studio still looks to breathe more life into the game as Halloween draws near with the announcement of the Season of Skulls seasonal event. Similar to the previous layout of the game’s August event, the only difference is that there is no level requirement for any player to start this timed experience. By accessing the event in your game mode options, you will be provided with a limited timeframe to score as many points as possible in the decorated arena.
Season of Skulls also affects the game’s freeplay world as themed enemies and encounters have also been disbursed into the region. Again, alike the Strom Gates in Cataclysm there are instead Anomalies that have appeared along with the new season now which are organized between factions: Archanist, Freelancer, and Sentinel.
This wouldn’t be a seasoned event without specialized or limited cosmetics that active players can unlock when participating Season of Skulls. Revealed on ResetEra, user cmagus shared images of Mass Effect armor sets that players can unlock during the timed event.

If you have yet to play Anthem, I suggest starting with our review of the game before jumping in. Rectify gaming’s David Rodriguez shares his experience to be “some of the most fun I’ve had playing with my friends in a long time and if you have the chance, give it a shot with your crew.”
Anthem is out now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
