While the battle royale has faced plenty of shortcomings in previous seasons, the last content season has certainly left plenty satisfied throughout. Season 28 – Breach arrived earlier in February bringing new meaning to Legend Fuse with the introduction of Hardlight as well. Around the same time, Respawn Entertainment also featured a complete annual roadmap leading well into 2027 most excitingly.
Additionally, events for the game were no different in bringing exciting content to the live-service. By March, Gundam officially infiltrated the Outlands offering thematic items as well as takeovers to its Wild Card mode. And, the most recent ‘Aftershock Event’ that just finished revamped the Hemlock assault rifle introducing the first ever silenced weapon equipped with a ‘Breach Charge’ grenade launcher as well.
Now this week, Apex Legends is being updated with Season 29 – Overclocked; coming May 5th. The new season introduces Combat Racer Axle. “Slide with increased speed and control using her Drift passive and launch into high-speed rotations with the Nitro Gate tactical,” the description for the new Skirmisher Legend Axle reads. “Control the pace of battle with her ultimate Kickstart, an enemy-seeking explosive drone. Use Kickstart to displace and disorient enemies, flush them out from behind cover, and zoom in to finish the job.”
The post continues on the new respawn tweak: “Introducing: Deathbox Respawns, a new, alternate way to get your teammates back into the fight that feels like a reward for teams that successfully clear and hold an area. Be aware: Deathbox Respawns are risky. The process is slow, noisy, and visible to nearby enemies. Additionally, subsequent deaths cause an increasing Lockout Time penalty that temporarily disables Deathbox Respawning.”
Another quality-of-life addition is subsequent healing is also being added to Apex Legends. “The new Chain Healing options give you the ability to, while healing, queue another healing item for use automatically after the current heal action completes. There are 3 options in the settings: Off, Single, and Auto. Single is the new default option.”
