assassin's creed odssey 40 million

Ubisoft’s biggest success over the last year has been the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Last month we saw the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows which had the second best release in the franchise.

Today, Ubisoft announced on X (Twitter) that both Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey have reached over 40 million players.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey was released in 2018 for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, while Assassin’s Creed Origins released in 2017. It does help that both games have made their way onto Xbox Game Pass since their initial launch dates.

In other Assassin’s Creed news, Shadows is still considered one of the best-selling games of 2025 in the United States. It reached over 3 million players within a week since it launched. Ubisoft hasn’t revealed the worldwide sales numbers for the game yet.

Shadows also attracted the most engagement the IP has seen in its history, whether it was negative or positive.

What do you think of the recent milestones achieved for the Assassin’s Creed franchise?
