Atomfall DLC ‘The Red Strain’ Is Out Today

Prior to the launch of Atomfall, it was clear this would be a different animal compared to other releases from developer Rebellion. In our preview for the game, we wrote: “It’s clear that Atomfall is quite different from Fallout. […] The portion of the map I played looked small, but it’s so easy to get lost while working on just one lead alone. You can easily get sidetracked by other activities as well.”

But came the full release earlier March, Rectify Gaming scored it an 8.5/10. “It’s safe to say that Atomfall is not a Fallout clone. With its stunning views and entertaining gameplay, Atomfall is a must-play for those who enjoy open-world survival games. The amount of mystery from the moment you press play keeps you engaged all the way through.”

Now after one DLC already shipping in the form of ‘Wicked Isle’ earlier this summer, the next story add-on is here. Expansion ‘The Red Strain’ is out now. You can watch the trailer in the video below:

“Nestled in the hills, away from the prying eyes of the locals, lies Test Site Moriah. A secret research site built by B.A.R.D on the site of an old missile testing facility, it has been shrouded in mystery ever since it opened. But something changed when the quarantine came into effect. Now, the facility has fallen into more nefarious hands, and a deadly virus is seeping out from the secret network of underground labs and bunkers,” the synopsis reads.

“But a route back into the facility has been located, and with it the opportunity to finally get some answers. […] The Red Strain, a new story expansion to Atomfall® the smash hit survival action game. The latest expansion adds a new in-game location called Test Site Moriah, new characters, as well as additional leads, weapons, skills, items and new endings for Atomfall’s main story.”
