You are already pretty aware of the recent craze for returning consoles of the NES and SNES in a smaller stature from Nintendo: now it seems those still might have not jumped on the sudden hype train won’t have the chance following this Holiday season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nintendo of America CEO Reggie Fils-Aime confirmed that both classic editions will be gone for good by 2019.

The entertainment outlet recently held an interview with Fils-Aime and discussed about the soon to be sold out products among other topics revolving around the Nintendo Switch, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and recently released titles.

We worked very hard, both for the NES Classic and the SNES Classic, to really have the best games that defined that generation. We’ve said that the current systems are the extent of our classic program. We’ve also been clear that, at least from an Americas perspective, these products are going to be available through the holiday season and once they sell out, they’re gone. And that’s it.

Following the statement from the Nintendo CEO, he expands on the topic telling that Nintendo is most likely done with creating more classic consoles as a whole. And instead will use the newly released Nintendo Switch Online to tackle classic titles on their platform.

“The way that consumers will be able to continue participating with our classic content is going to be through Nintendo Switch Online, and we just released three new games from the NES generation onto that platform. We look at that as the main way that consumers will be able to experience that legacy content,”

For those hoping to see another nostalgic return of previous Nintendo platforms will be left disappointed as this is a direct confirmation that the company is finished with miniature consoles. It was stated by Fils-Aime about a month ago surrounding the N64 Classic that “what I can tell you is certainly that’s not in our planning horizon.”
